Can Neura prescribe me medications?
Patients in the United States who hold video visits in AL, AZ, CA, CO, FL, GA, IL, IN, KY, MA, MD, MI, MO, MS, NC, NJ, NY, OH, PA, SC, TN, TX, VA, and WA can be directly prescribed medical treatment and have the option for medications to be delivered to their doorstep or called into a local pharmacy.
Medications prescribed by Neura Health clinicians may be covered under your insurance plan, depending on your individual coverage. (Neura does not sell medications directly, so your purchase of prescription medications would be from your preferred local or mail-order pharmacy.)
Patients who hold video visits in a state NOT listed above: Your individual treatment plan may include specific prescription medication and testing, and with your permission, we will reach out directly to your existing provider to communicate our visit notes and treatment recommendations. Your local physician would be responsible for directly prescribing any treatment for you based on our evaluation. In most cases, physicians are willing to do this. We can also refer you to a local provider if you need more assistance.
Please note that our ability to prescribe is based on where you are located when you hold your telehealth visit, NOT where you live. If you live in RI, but you hold your visit in MA, for example, Neura can still send your prescriptions to a local pharmacy in RI. Alternatively, you can hold your visit in RI, but in that case we would send visit notes and treatment recommendations to your local provider, who would be the one to prescribe any meds.
We cannot prescribe any medications or order any testing for patients outside of the US. Still, if you are in Canada or another country but have a phone number with a +1 country code, you may hold an informational consultation with a Neura neurologist who will recommend a customized treatment plan and work with your local physician to get any necessary items ordered for you. Your local physician would be responsible for directly prescribing any treatment for you based on our evaluation.
